….is Jonny really dead ?
My copy of the new The Tick is on it’s way from Heavy Ink (along with my backlog of PS238)!
Waiting is difficult…
My copy of The Tick just arrived.
story: Pretty funny! Almost as good as first-run The Tick. It may have felt a bit much like the intro to a new series that it was, but that may change.
Art: The ink work was, as always, strong. Like Ben Edlund’s originals with a stronger sense of anatomy. Les also drew the sidekicks even creepier than Ben did and that’s pretty creepy.
Colors: a bit garish for me. I also totally hated what they did with the girls’ mouths (replacing the black ink with pure red ink). It looked stupid, especially with an open mouth where the black was the shadow. I hope they drop this for the next one.
Overall: This is a good start and I’ll keep up with it. I would prefer to see this in B/W like the original The Tick. I have some Chroma-Tick reprints and don’t like them near as much as the B/W. I think that B/W on cheaper stock would be a good fit for Les’ work and get back to the original feel, thus washing away the dirty taste of Karma Tornado. It would also be cheaper to produce.
Misc: So, outside of the NorthEast, a “Yankee Swap” is apparently called a “Dirty Santa”? Huh. Whooda thunkit?
Hey! Has this site been bailed upon? Is there a more alive blog or site I don’t know about? How does one follow the exploits of Les these days?
