A World With a Middleman
So, as I think I may have mentioned, The Middleman premiered on ABC Family on Monday night (8:00 Eastern/Pacific, 7:00 Central.) For fun, I’ve been following the reaction online. I am pleased to find that the reaction has been very very positive! The worst reviews I’ve seen have been “it’s pretty good,” and the best have been absolutely glowing.
I spoke with Javi this morning and he told me the ratings were good, and we’ve had thousands and thousands of iTunes downloads. My own *ahem* research has demonstrated that that scourge of the internet, bittorrent, has produced about 50 thousand more downloads. Everyone who attended my viewing party also seemed to enjoy it, as did all my friends and relations who called me right after they saw it (but you never know if they’re just being nice.)
I thought I’d check Amazon to see how the books are doing with this new surge of interest, and I’m very pleased to find the book rocketing up the rankings. As of now, the collected edition preorder is up to #9,462 overall, #16 in graphic novels/horror and #22 in graphic novels/science fiction. (I’m not really sure how we qualify as a horror comic.) The original volumes one and three are SOLD OUT completely.
All in all, good news for us!

I was one of those nasty torrenters, but that’s because I can’t download the ep from iTunes up here in the North. But I did enjoy the episode. Looking forward to downlo- er, watching more!
Everything is coming up Milhouse!
I haven’t seen the show… yet(”MiddleMan party tonight! MiddleMan party tonight!”*), but I must say: I want more MM comics! I have a hopefully irrational fear that more MM TV = less MM comics.
*sing to the tune of Black Flag’s “TV Party”. Man, if I were feeling motivated, I’d record a cover with GarageBand or somethin’
Saw The Middleman premiere last night.
Meh. The comic is way, way (way) better. The shots were uninspired, the pacing was odd and the actors, while looking absolutely perfect, didn’t seem enthused with their roles.
I will buy the next MM comic the moment it comes out, but as far as the show goes I won’t go out of my way. It just makes me pine for the long, lost Special Unit 2.
I told you they should advertise on Adult Swim, and so they did.
Taa-Daa!
