Jonny sort of looks like he’s winding up a kick there in the last panel, doesn’t he?

This is something I just did up as a logo for     . I thought I’d save my progress and show its development step-by-step.

I’ve been playing around with red pencil lately. I did most of this real quick with a red pencil and then inked it with an 05 Micron pen. I kind of like the way sketches look with all the red lines under the black. Neato!

Cleaning up the image was super easy. After scanning it, I just went into the red channel and got rid of all the lines.

I seem to have not saved the flatting step. Oh well. I think the colors took me the most time. An entire episode of CSI!

The lettering was pretty easy. A couple fonts I had already and Photoshop’s type tool.

Then I just threw a unifying color over the whole thing. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Now I have to redesign the website so this is on there, assuming “2-Hog” Ryan Hill agrees.

Oh, the backgrounds! So much perspective!

So started a Ghost Rider meme a few days back and I’m the second person to participate. This will not do! Everybody go and draw a Ghost Rider! Zarathos demands it!

If you draw one, post it over there, but let me know ‘cuz I want to see them too.

Also, I went to a little restaurant last night after shooting my friends with lasers, even though they were named after an ewok, they had this great little cartoon on the napkins that I wanted to share.

The one guy’s all like “I will throw a burger to you!” and the other guy’s all like “I will catch it with a bun!” and they’re both really enthusiastic about it. I am extremely fond of weird little cartoons like this.

Heyo, I forgot to mention outside of its own blogs, but we’re having another Drink ‘n Draw at 7:00 Saturday the 17th.  Last time was a lot of fun.  More info here:

So those of you in the Portland area may have already seen this– I illustrated the readers’ valentines section of the Mercury this last week. I thought this opening piece came out real nicely. All done with a brushpen and two Microns. The brushpen may be mankind’s greatest invention.

This can also double as my obligatory Valentine’s Day illustration. I will not wish you a happy Valentine’s Day, however, because love is stupid.

So and I were talking about awesome things you could paint on the side of a van, and we decided the most awesome thing would be a hot barbarian chick with a huge axe riding a Hitler. Therefore:

Perhaps I will draw a background. She could be riding her Hitler into a crowd of metalheads while two dragons fight in the sky over a purple mountain range in the background. Rad!
